Who We Are
What’s in a Name?
If you’ve ever stepped aboard a warship or a traditional yacht, you’ve probably seen some “brightwork.” This term is used to describe a broad collection of (mostly) metal objects and surfaces that should be diligently polished and fussed over by the sailors of the Morning Watch. To the practiced eye, a ship’s brightwork is something of a testimonial. When a crew takes care of the brightwork habitually, critical observers of the naval profession are inclined to believe that crew is also capable of rigging a complex tow, safely launching the ship’s boats, or competently navigating a tight waterway. And, so it goes with any venture; when you pay attention to seemingly-minor details, you force yourself to build systemic processes enabling broader, more obvious successes.
The Brightwork Matters
Our team is fully dedicated to building financial peace, health, and well-being for our client-partners…but we’re also fully obsessed with how we do it. We start with the brightwork. We lead our client-partners into an ongoing process that is straightforward, incremental, and repeatable. This process requires that we understand the current state of things, define where we want to go, and develop & implement a plan that gives us the best chances for success. At each step in the process, we make sure the brightwork is looking good.
The Difference in Practice
We are intentionally, proudly different. Not only do our fee-only advisors adhere to the fiduciary standard – we strictly limit our lead advisors to 50 client-partners at one time. For you, this means you are seen, you are heard, and you are known by the firm. Really. This also means our advisors have the space to research new ideas, strategies, and practices while keeping the brightwork, well – bright. If you want to meet quarterly, but also want one of those meetings to be a casual conversation while we hike alongside your favorite trail companion…great – you sound like our type of person. We are not motivated or pressured by growing our firm’s revenue; we are motivated by building a sustainable business where the client-partner is truly valued (and feels that way) while the advisor is intellectually challenged but not over-stretched (and, hence, wants to work here forever).

When he’s not studying the financial media, camping, or working in the yard, you can find him trying to keep up with his wife on a mountain bike somewhere in Black Forest.
CAREY DAVIS

During 11 years of active service, he logged more than 2,000 combat flight hours in support of multiple combat operations and was selected to attend the rigorous Air Force Weapons School, graduating in 2020. Carey separated from active duty in 2024 but continues to serve as a Major (Maj) in the Utah Air National Guard in Salt Lake City, UT. Since his days at UNC, Carey has been pursuing a deeper understanding of investment, tax, and estate planning strategies; today, he designs and maintains our income-oriented strategies. Carey and his family very happily returned to live in Colorado Springs in 2024 and hope to stay here, “forever.”
